The University of California, Irvine (UCI) is a public research university located in Irvine, California, in the United States. See Wikipedia. The City of Irvine is less than 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, 40 miles south of Los Angeles and 90 miles north of San Diego. The Irvine area offers theater, comedy clubs, night life, art museums and many and varied restaurants. Within short driving distances, southern California offers surfing, skiing, sailing, fishing, snowboarding and many opportunities for hiking. Irvine has been rated as one of America’s safest cities.
The UCI campus has been ranked consistently among the top academic institutions, measured by the impact of its research in the field of neuroscience. The lab is located within the School of Medicine campus of UCI. Dr. Xu’s home department, the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology, comprises a world-class team of dedicated scientists in both the basic sciences and clinical sciences.
Dr. Xu has joint appointments in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the School of Medicine, and in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the School of Engineering. He is also a faculty member in the Epilepsy Research Center and the Center for Hearing Research at UCI.
Dr. Xu’s laboratory also has active collaborations or research interactions with the groups at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego, at UCSD, and UCLA and the University of Southern California (USC).
