UCI Center for Neural Circuit Mapping
Dr. Xiangmin Xu is Chancellor’s Professor and Director of the Center for Neural Circuit Mapping at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine. His scientific interests span a broad range of topics, including evaluation of functional connectivity in the mammalian forebrain in the development of binocular vision and higher cognitive function; the effects of aging, Alzheimer’s disease and stress on circuit functioning; and the development of cutting-edge molecular tools to support neural circuit mapping studies. Dr. Xu has been the recipient of multiple prestigious awards as an independent investigator, and his group achievements are reflected by their publications in high impact journals, and substantial national and international recognition by the neuroscience community. With the strong collaborative infrastructure of the Center for Neural Circuit Mapping, Dr. Xu has successfully assembled highly talented collaborative groups that include some of the world’s most outstanding scientists and secured major funding at the very highest level to take on big scientific problems.
